Well known in Portland as the Art Director for The Oregonian from 1960 to 1980, he served as a teacher and juror for many art shows and painted scenes from all over Oregon. His works have appeared in national and international journals and magazines and received many awards for pieces in exhibitions. He painted mainly in watercolors, preferred to work out of doors and specialized in historical buildings and scenes.
